Q:Port Order Changes and IP Configuration Issues on Realtek Multi-Port (4-Port) PCIe NICs
A:Configure a Fixed IP Address Using DHCP Reservation (MAC Address Binding)
DHCP Reservation (also known as MAC Address Binding) allows a DHCP server to automatically assign a predefined IP address based on the MAC address of each network interface.
This approach eliminates the need to manually configure a static IP address while ensuring that each network port always receives the same IP address after a system reboot or network reconnection.

Procedure
Step 1. Obtain the MAC Address of Each Network Adapter
1. Open Command Prompt (cmd) in Windows.
2. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
3. Execute the following command: getmac /v
4. Record the MAC address of each Ethernet port. For example:
00-11-22-33-44-55
00-11-22-33-44-56
...
Step 2. Configure DHCP Reservation
1. Log in to the management interface of your router or DHCP server.
2. Locate the DHCP reservation feature. Depending on the device manufacturer, the feature may be named:
3. Create a reservation entry for each network adapter by mapping its MAC address to the desired IP address.
|
MAC Address |
Reserved IP Address |
|
00-11-22-33-44-55 |
192.168.1.10 |
|
00-11-22-33-44-56 |
192.168.1.11 |
Step 3. Verify the Windows Network Configuration
1. Open Control Panel.
2. Navigate to:
Network and Internet → Network and Sharing Center
3. Select Change adapter settings.
4. Right-click the target Ethernet adapter and select Properties.
5. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
6. Verify that Obtain an IP address automatically is selected.
Step 4. Verify the Configuration
1. Confirm that the DHCP server contains reservation entries for all required MAC addresses.
2. Reconnect the network cable or restart the system.
3. Verify that each Ethernet port receives its assigned reserved IP address.
If the configuration is successful, the DHCP server will automatically assign the same IP address to each network adapter based on its MAC address whenever the system reconnects to the network.
